COM119 COMPUTER PROGRAMMING FINAL PROJECT

  1. (10p) The source code is very hard to read. Use proper indentation and line spacing to make the source code easily understandable.

  1. (20p) The current program does not accept space characters. If you type “Linear Algebra” for a book name, it does not work correctly. If you type “Linear_Algebra” which does not include a space, it will be recorded correctly. Change the code and correct this bug.  Explain how you have modified the code in your report.

  1. (10p) Add 60 books manually. Add 10 books for each field. 10 books for Computer field, 10 books for Electronics field, etc. The program will save your records in a “Bibek.dat” file in the same folder.

  1. (20p) Currently there is a quantity field which keeps number of books in the library. But it does not work: When a book is issued, the quantity does not change. Change this field as QTY_TOTAL, and add 2 more fields, and make 3 fields to track the quantity: QTY_TOTAL, QTY_ISSUED, QNT_AVAILABLE. QTY_ISSUED should have the number of borrowed books and QNT_AVAILABLE should have the number of available books in the library. : QTY_TOTAL = QTY_ISSUED + QNT_AVAILABLE. Change the code, let these fields correctly reflect the book status in the library.  Issue 5 books to show the correct operation. Issue records will be kept in a file named as “Issue.dat”.  Explain how you have modified the code in your report.

  1. (20p) In the given code when searching a book by name, only full matches are considered as a valid match. For example, if you search for “C_Programming”, you have to type a full “C_Programming” to see the book. If you type “Programming”, no results are listed. Change this, and make the program list the books having a searched substring in the string of a book name. Your results should view newly added QTY_TOTAL, QTY_ISSUED, QNT_AVAILABLE data fields, and not the old QTY field. Explain how you have modified the code in your report.

  1. (20p) “Edit Book’s Record” function currently edits every field in a record. Change it. It should ask which field to edit first, and then, the user should be able to change the needed field only, without affecting other fields. It should have a choice to edit all the fields, as well. Explain how you have modified the code in your report.
