OBJECTIVE
To create a tool to help the novice user understand the need to be diligent and how to be safe regarding their personal information while using social media. Its purpose is to make users aware of the decisions they make and the consequences of using default privacy settings/preferences to help prevent inadvertent disclosure of personal data.
Requirements
- django website - using python programming language, javascript, and github compatibility and documentation
- Use screenshots/images of facebook user account settings/preferences as website data source
- create python functions to do analysis on facebook user account settings and preferences, analysis to compare current user account settings/preferences to those that we establish as safe and recommended.
- display both results on django webpage for user's consumption and decision making - display user's current and recommended account settings/preferences to allow user opportunity to make good decision to harden their profile against the online criminal.
Lay the Foundation Only
Create a few funtions - to deal with whether or not a user's facebook profile is returned in search engine results, who can send you friend requests, and who can view a users future posts, for example; if you make the analysis work with a few of these, I should be able to follow your steps and do some coding of my own. I would suppose the functions would need to take parameters that have the necessary logic to make decisions on what is best for the user. Such as if the user's setting to view future posts is set to "Public", display to the screen something like, "Account Setting Requires Attention, the default setting of Everyone is not Recommended"
