INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES
ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS

Your task is to build two requested Tableau dashboards based on Tableau views (that is, visualizations) you will create for these dashboards. Please note you will NOT use the views you created for the first Tableau assignment; these will be new views/vizzes. Dashboard descriptions:

1. This first dashboard has been requested by a colleague at SuperStore who is interested in exploring several questions in a single Tableau dashboard: How does the proportion of returned products compare across the four available shipping modes?

To what extent does the above relationship (if any) appear to depend upon the country to which the order is being shipped? How does this relationship vary across various combinations of product categories? The only thing you know with certainty is that allowing this user to select a country from a map is a feature you definitely want to include in the dashboard.

HINT: This dashboard requires two views/vizzes. 2. Another colleague at SuperStore is looking into the possibility of introducing free shipping.

Many retailers offer free shipping...often for orders that meet a specific dollar amount. This colleague wants to visually explore the effect free shipping would have on profit ratio within SuperStore...specifically for orders under $100. Her idea is that if SuperStore offers free shipping on low-dollar-amount orders, then some or many of those orders will no longer be profitable. Ultimately, she may recommend to senor management that some countries, segments within some countries, product sub-categories, or some combination of these, will NOT be offered free shipping below $100, while orders above $100 will be offered free shipping.

Your dashboard will help her begin to explore historical sales data to understand how sensitive profitability would be to a free shipping feature. So, getting more specific about what needs to occur with this this dashboard, you determine there is a desire to be able to select the specific country for which profit ratio is being examined, as well as the segment. (Note: profit ration is the measure you choose to use to indicate profitability.)

Your colleague wants to see profit ratio for product sub-categories only. You determine that, as with the first dashboard, this second dashboard will use a geographic map to enable country selection. You also envision two additional Views/visualizations, one of which will show profit ratio WITHOUT free shipping, and one that shows profit ratio WITH free shipping. When you discussed this idea with your colleague, she expressed a desire to fix the range of displayed profit ratio as -0.5 to +0.5.

This basically means your colleague wants to see profit ratio appearing on a scale that is limited to a 50% loss on the low end, to a 50% profit on the high end. If it so happened that the loss or profit exceeds 50%, then your viz will simply truncate anything beyond 50%.

Your colleague is aware of this, but prefers that functionality over a situation in which the axis ranges change every time she changes the country or segment. Freezing the axes ranges means she doesn't have to constantly pay attention to whether and to what extent the axis scale(s) has changed.
