Technical Specification:

1) Size: to be no larger than a 300mm x 300mm x 300mm cube when stored.

 Size when operational:  300mm x 300mm (base) x 600mm (height) maximum.

2) To be used on a domestic kitchen surface top, device thus maximum mass 5Kg.

3) To possess a mechanical advantage (MA)of 2:1 as a minimum, the MA can be higher

4) To meet all British Standards W.R.T. Kitchen appliances and their safety.

5) To be designed in accordance with known Human Factors data.

6) To cost to manufacture :  £5 each total manufacture cost

7) Numbers to be produced yearly –  5 million units minimum.

Features that the unit must have:

a) To press fruits to extract their juice (oranges, lemons, grapes, berries etc.)

b) To press foods to mash the foods for consumption, (e.g. mash potatoes)

c) A safety mechanism to ensure that the device does not move or slip when a force is applied and the device is in action on the kitchen surface top *.

d) A mechanism to allow complete dis-assembly so that the device and/or its parts can be washed at temperature 75 ° C in any domestic dishwasher.

e) The device must be stable when in operation and withstand the following loads:

*vertical downward force of 200N applied at the swashing end.

*a hand input load of no more than 10 N applied in any direction.

f) A tray of some sort to remove the juices for the fruit squashing application

g) The device must be rust free if any metals are used
