The assignment is about building a network for a company. I already started it, created the groups and a few things on packet tracer and I do weekly activities on it. I have three weeks’ activities pending and I’ll add the details below. These are the groups in the network Art and Design Programming Sales Management Quality Assurance
WEEK 5 - DNS Naming This week's assignment is to give your devices DNS names and make them reachable by the network. While we're going to be working with IPv4, this is something that will be essential when you migrate to IPv6 networks. Here is a brief walk through video on how to program this in Packet Tracer and make sure its working. Assignment Requirements: DNS Server installed URL names created and labeled in Network Topology LAN Admin able to ping via URL names Upload the Packet Tracer file (.PKT) for your instructor to review.
WEEK 6 - VLANs For this part of the project, you'll be assigning each of your user groups to a VLAN and programming the switch ports with those VLANs. VLANs or Virtual Local Area Networks are a way that we can use less physical hardware but separate out networks logically as if we had to use independent hardware for each network. This provides us with an increased level of security and reduces the size of broadcast domains on each switched network. VLANs can also be used to added extra functionality, like daisy-chaining a computer with a standalone VoIP phone. Assignment Requirements: Each switch has multiple VLANs VLANs each have their own IP Subnet per group LAN Admin VLAN is able to ping every piece of equipment All unused ports should be in their own VLAN (Blackholed) Upload the Packet Tracer file (.PKT) for your instructor to review.
WEEK 7 - IPv6 Added For this part of the project, we are going to get our network ready to work with IPv6. We're going to be adding IPv6 subnets and IPs for every device on the network. IPv6 routing is similar to IPv4, but the syntax is very different as is the application. As a result, you won't be able to ping between subnets with the topics we're covering this semester. But if you want to venture forth and dig more into IPv6, Packet Tracer will let you. Assignment Requirements:
All devices have an IPv6 address All devices can ping their Default Gateway via IPv6 All VLANs have their own unique IPv6 subnet Upload the Packet Tracer file (.PKT) for your instructor to review. I have some videos from my instructor in case you need more clarification on the task or you can just tell me and I will clarify it. I have attached the .pkt file to start but please let me know the cost so I'll know if I will go through with it. Thank you.
