STEP 1 – MATERIALS / ACCESSORIES COST ESTIMATING
Using the Plans to calculate and record information on the Cost Estimating Sheet:
(a) Create Material List and Estimate Quantities - create a list of materials / accessories that will be needed to fit out and complete the Ensuite renovation (you can include additional accessories that are not obvious on the Plans but are commonly fitted in Ensuites / Bathrooms). You must list a minimum of six (6) different materials / accessories. Also estimate and record the quantities needed for each of the materials / accessories recorded.
(b) Obtain Unit Costing – and obtain and record the unit costs of each of those materials / accessories on your list from suppliers – although you can obtain such from any supplier you like, we have provided some websites below to assist you:
www.reece.com.au www.cassbrothers.com.au www.bunnings.com.au
(c) Calculate Materials Cost - calculate the quantities of materials / accessories needed, as well as the total cost of all materials / accessories to be used.
STEP 2 – LABOUR COST ESTIMATING
Using the same Floor Plan to calculate and record information on the Cost Estimating Sheet:
(a) Estimate Labour Cost - calculate the separate labour costs of the Ensuite renovation, taking into account the following:
the Tiler charges $90/m2, and he is to tile the floor and all four walls
the Carpenter charges $60/hour, and it will take him 6.5 hours to install all of the Ensuite accessories
the Plumber charges a fixed fee of $1,500 for all plumbing work
(b) Calculate Labour Cost - calculate the total cost of all labour needed for this task
STEP 3 – TOTAL COST ESTIMATING
Calculate the Total Cost of all materials / accessories and labour for the Ensuite renovations, and record this figure in the BLUE field on the Costing Sheet.

You will need to select a Work Task that consists of at least ten (10) sub-tasks – you can choose a task associated with your Owner Builder Project, or a task set out in the Learning Materials / Work Order that you have studied as part of undergoing this course.
Complete the Work Plan template indicating the following:
Name of the Work Task (i.e Bathroom renovation)
