Module 3 - Code design and Implementation Assignment

Please consider the 2 code writing tasks and choose 1 to implement.

Code file naming convention for this and all subsequent assignments ..familynameTask1 if you choose option 1 or familynameTask2 for option 2 in either case the only capital letter is the “T”. This task must be implemented within a single file

Task1-Newstringsplitmethod 5points

The split method in the String class returns an array of strings consisting of the substrings split by the delimiters. However, the delimiters are not returned.

Implement the following new method that returns an array of strings consisting of the substrings split by the matching delimiters, including the matching delimiters. Assume a maximum limit of 2 delimiters, the space denotes end of string and beginning of delimiters.

- public static String[] split(String s, String regex)

For example, split(”ab#12#453”, ”#”) returns - ab, #, 12, #, 453 in an array of String

and split(”a?b?gfe#”, ”[?#]”) returns - a, ?, b, ?, gfe, #, in an array of String.

UI interaction sample: - Input? - “q#w?45# #?” the space denotes end of string and beginning of delimiters. - Tokenized: - q - # - w - ? - 45 - #

Task2-ImplementtheStringclass 5points

The String class is provided in the Java library. Provide your own implementation for the following methods (name the new class MyString2):

  • public MyString2(String s);
  • public int compare(String s);
  • public MyString2 substring(int begin);
  • public MyString2 toUpperCase();
  • public char[] toChars();
  • public static MyString2 valueOf(boolean b);

Write a driver program to test all your methods displaying to the user in sequence: The test type / scenario Original input and The output clearly labelled.
